CAREER PATH WISDOM
PATHWISE NEWS
It's August, and we're in the thick of summer vacation season. Whether you're at the beach, in the mountains, riding rollercoasters, sightseeing abroad, visiting family, or just staying home, commit to disconnecting from the day-to-day. Be fully present with your family and friends, open your mind to something new, and take time to observe and experience the world around you. Above all, use your time away to relax and re-charge, so that you're able to return to your professional life with a fresh sense of purpose and renewed energy.

The PathWise site now features profiles of leading voices on career, professional, and personal development, such as Dorie Clark, Marshall Goldsmith, and Simon Sinek. We'll continue to add more profiles in the months ahead. We've also launched our PathWise members' community page on LinkedIn. If you're not already a member, please join!. Basic membership is FREE. We've also got more Career Sessions podcast episodes and other career content coming soon.

"He lowers the temperature in the room."

A colleague recently made this comment about another colleague, and it resonated.

Work discussions can get heated. Sometimes our emotions get the best of us. Having someone who keeps their cool and is able to help everyone reset, focus on what matters, and drive to resolution is a real skill that not everyone possesses. These people are valuable.

Who "lowers the temperature in the room" in your organization? Do they know the value they are bringing based on this skill? If not, let them know.

There's a lot of great career and leadership advice out there.

To help you find it, we've added a new section to our website that showcases leading voices, such as William Arruda, Dorie Clark, Marshall Goldsmith, Adam Grant, and Simon Sinek.

And we've got more coming!
Many of us are in high-change situations. Some people refer to these as encompassing VUCA - volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. What do you need to lead in these situations? Check out this July post for our thoughts.
